With curly hair textures particularly affected by scalp problems, if you suffer from moderate to severe scalp irritations or dandruff then MIZANI Scalp Care is a great system to help maintain a healthy scalp.

For the full treatment we recommend you visit one of our expert stylists at Urban Retreat, Harrods.

To care for your scalp at home just follow the steps below:

  • Apply MIZANI Scalp Care Shampoo to your hair and deeply massage into your hair and scalp. This shampoo is creamy and moisturising and is designed to help control scalp flaking. It thoroughly cleanses your hair and scalp, removing excess bacteria that can cause you flaking and scaling.
  • For excessively dry and irritated scalps, let the shampoo sit on your hair for two minutes.
  • Rinse thoroughly your hair and then apply the shampoo again and work through gently. Then rinse your hair thoroughly again.
  • Once your hair has been gently towel blot dried, apply a generous amount of MIZANI Scalp Care Conditioner which restores the moisture balance to your hair and scalp and continues to deliver dandruff fighting ingredients.
  • Massage the conditioner gently into your hair and scalp.
  • Cover your hair with a plastic cap and leave for 10 minutes.
  • For excessively dry scalps, sit under a warm to cool dryer for 10 minutes
  • Then rinse your hair thoroughly and style as usual

This is a great system for relaxed, natural or coloured hair.

Beautique.com, for those of you who dont know is the online store for the luxury salon destination in Harrods, Urban Retreat. Their stylists are well known for creating fantastic looks. This Black hair up do hairstyle is just one of them. So if you want to replicate this look simply follow the instructions below and find out what Mizani hair products you will need.

  • First wash your hair with MIZANI Puriphying Shampoo.
  • Once thoroughly cleansed, rinse the hair and gently towel blot dry.
  • Next apply either MIZANI Fulfyl Conditioning Treatment, which seals in moisture and helps prevent heat surface damage or MIZANI Moisturfuse Moisturizing Conditioner which deeply moisturises your hair with natural oils and botanicals.
  • After conditioning your hair gently towel blot dry.

    To create the style:
  • Section your hair into four equal parts and then apply a coin sized amount of MIZANI Thermastrength Style Serum which is formulated with patented anti-breakage ceramide technology to improve the strength of your hair and protect it from heat.
  • Blow dry your hair with a side parting in order to create the sweeping fringe. Once your hair is straight, separate the fringe section, sweeping it across your head and securing it behind your ear with a hair grip.
  • You may want to use MIZANI Shimmer Reflects Spritz to help hold the fringe in place and give it shine.
  • Then pull your remaining hair into a high ponytail, securing it at the crown using a metal-free hair band to reduce breakage. Then using the MIZANI Shimmer Reflects Spritz for shine and hold, secure the lengths of hair just above the nape of the neck with a grip.
  • If your hair is already straight you can create this look by roller setting your hair with MIZANI Setting Lotion which with shea butter and patented ceramides creates long lasting hold. Then continues with the steps above.

Friday, April 10, 2009 9:55:07 AM (GMT Daylight Time, UTC+01:00) ( Short Black Hair - Get the Look )

To get the ball rolling MIZANI have provided us with some fantastic tips on how to achieve the look for short straight Afro Caribbean or black hair.

How to get the Short Hair Look:

  • Wash your hair twice with MIZANI Puriphying Shampoo to ensure that your hair is thoroughly cleansed.
  • Towel blot dry and then condition with MIZANI Fulfyl Conditioning Treatment. Once your hair is rinsed gently towel blot dry.
  • Then massage MIZANI Foam Wrap into your hair with your hands making sure it is evenly distributed.
  • Using a comb create a side parting above the left eyebrow and then using a brush, mould your hair flat to the head, either side of the parting.
  • Secure your hair in place with a scarf, preferably made of silk to prevent moisture loss, and then sit under a dryer (or use a traditional hair dryer) until your hair is completely dry and remove the scarf.
  • Now following the side parting, smooth your hair into flicks, section by section with hair straighteners.
  • There is no need to use another product whilst using straighteners as MIZANI Foam Wrap contains ceramides to help strengthen and protect your hair from the heat.
  • To finish use MIZANI Shimmer Reflect Spritz to give hold and add shine.

In Swahili, the word "MIZANI" means balance and refers to the central concept behind the brand. Each MIZANI formula whether used alone or in combination, gently works to balance the forces of beauty and chemistry, creating radiantly healthy hair. The founding principle of the brand is "Beauty and Chemistry in Balance." The balance refers to the moisture protein equilibrium that endows hair with the strength and flexibility it needs to stay healthy.

In 1991, Soft Sheen and Redken Laboratories, developed the original MIZANI brand that debuted with nine products offering a collection of holistic premium salon-exclusive hair care and treatment products targeted to the African American salon/stylist and their clientele. In 2001, after existing as part of the Soft-Sheen Carson group in Chicago where MIZANI initially served as their professional hair care brand, MIZANI evolved into the L’Oréal Professional Products Division.

Today, MIZANI, a division of L’Oréal USA, is a complete line of professional treatments, relaxers, shampoos, conditioners, hair color, and styling products designed to meet the expanding needs of today’s global beauty. Through its advanced, patented technology, MIZANI has discovered new ways to care not only for the hair, but for the scalp as well. Each MIZANI formula is customised to suit the individual needs of each hair type. From naturally curly and highly textured to color-treated, relaxed and everything in between, MIZANI offers a specialised, salon-exclusive hair care system designed to restore every hair type to its ultimate state of balance.
